CD REVIEW-GRIND

By: Lish "Rockin" Green

As I keep saying I really don't want to sound like a fan girl here, But I've been an EMN fan for I'd say close to 25 years. So to be able to review their new material before coming out is such an honor to me. AND yet on the other hand may be somewhat difficult, I don't believe I've ever heard one of their songs that I haven't liked.

After listening to Grind(which is a full length CD, the 5 song Ep was put out in 2015), it's easy to see the same is taking place with this CD, even though Grind, on HighVolMusic, has that EMN's sound, I find it to be more current and modern. Not sure if it's due to the current line-up of great musicians-current line-up is Rick Ruhl(vocals), Troy Fleming(bass), Travis Butler(guitar), John Guttery(guitar) and Lonnie Hammer(drums). Or due to the fact  of a few guest appearances, Zach Myers of Shinedown plays guitar on "Loco Crazy", Jim Dandy does guest vocals on "Stand Up" and Wayne Swinny from Saliva plays guitar on "Snake".  But, which ever it is it seems to work. And I for one, I have been one that has waited all these years to hear new music from EMN and I am not disappointed one bit. But personally my favorite so far is "Blown Away", has been since I seen the band play it live almost 2 years ago.
